Tweed Cycling Fashion

Fashion in Airports

Cycling and fashion: two of my favorite things merged in one day.

Last Sunday marked the first official Big Apple Tweed — New York City’s inaugural tweed bicycle ride. Cyclists from as far as Harlem and Washington DC came together dressed in their tweed-inspired Sunday best. We met in Grand Army Plaza before embarking on our tour of Park Slope and Fort Greene. The ride culminated with a free buffet brunch at the lovely French-Moroccan bistro Kif.

Jacqui Collins, a Brooklyn-based handbag designer, won the award for “Most Ravishing Lady.” She was dressed in a handmade corset and a helmet saved from her horseback riding days–who could argue otherwise?

Evan Wiig, a fellow Bed-Stuy resident, won best overall stance; notice the gold flask in his right pocket.

Maria and Helio, a Brazilian couple, while not dressed in tweed, were still among the most beautiful, sophisticated duos.

Not to be outdone, the founders also looked very elegant and stylish on this special day.
